History
Webster Combustion Technology LLC was originally founded by Mr. W. W. Webster in 1922 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to manufacture the Webster Low Pressure Radiant Gas Burner. The original company name was Webster Engineering Company. Mr. Webster and his staff built a very successful business of outstanding prominence in the conversion gas burner industry.
In January of 1929, the company was acquired by the Surface Combustion Corporation. Webster’s product line was expanded during this period to include complete gas burning systems for all types of boilers, stills, kilns and dryers. They also manufactured complete regulating and metering equipment for refineries and gasoline plants.
Between 1960 and 1977, Webster ownership changed a few times, and during that time Webster expanded the scope of products it manufactured to include air conditioning and refrigeration equipment for industry.
In April 1977, Webster was acquired by Manufab, Inc and moved to Winfield, Kansas. The name of the company was changed to Webster Engineering and Manufacturing Co, Inc. and the air conditioning and refrigeration equipment was no longer manufactured as the company narrowed its focus on the commercial and industrial burner business. The core boiler burners manufactured were the JB, HDRV and FDR series.
In June of 1994, Webster was acquired by Alden Industries. Webster continued to grow its product offering by introducing the high swirl, high turndown JBS and HDS burners, as well as the Temp A Trim air density trim system.
Webster was acquired by Selas Heat Technology Company, a Lionheart Industrial Group Company, in November of 2013. At that time, the company name was changed to Webster Combustion Technology LLC. Since then, Webster has continued to grow its product offering by introducing the ultra-low NOx FX burners and high efficiency and high turndown JBE burners. Recently, Webster announced the new SG small gas burners, JBHT high turndown burners and biodiesel fired burners. In addition, the company has expanded into the asphalt market with the addition of the HDRA total air burners and the ABMS and ACS-100 asphalt burner control systems.
Webster has been devising innovative ways to improve burner performance and efficiency since 1922. The Webster team is proud to continue evolving our business because forward-thinking products and support are what make and keep Webster ahead. We have enjoyed “A Century of Burner Innovation and We’re Just Getting Warmed Up!”
